HOW to Make a CUSTOM DIY Farmhouse Tobacco basket wreath
Farmhouse home decor as become a staple around our home. I love the neutral colors and simple style the farmhouse vibe give. But I definitely do not want my home to look just like every other farmhouse decor home. I want our home to be unique to us and our family. I want a custom farmhouse decor.
We have been working on remodeling our home and my favorite part of remodeling is the decorating of course.
So I was looking for some custom farmhouse decor pieces to add to our home, but had little luck finding the perfect piece.
I wondered through the craft store and looked through pinterest. I felt a little inspired, but unsure of what the outcome would be.
But then it all came together and I created this monogrammed custom farmhouse tobacco basket wreath.
I love it and I know you will too girly.

HOW to Make a CUSTOM DIY Farmhouse Tobacco basket wreath
Supplies needed for a DIY Farmhouse Tobacco Basket Wreath
Tobacco basket(mine is a large rectangle that I found at Homegoods)
Monogram letters or small sign of choice(found mine at Hobby Lobby- they are about 6 inches tall by 4 inches wide each)
Floral Foam(I picked some up at the dollar store)
Light Weight Floral Wire
Large Wired Ribbon of Choice(I used a beige with gold polka dots and some solid gold shimmer ribbon, but whatever ribbon/ribbons you love will work. Buffallo black and white print would be adorable. My ribbon shown above is about 2.5 inches thick)
Faux Flowers and Faux greenery of choice( I used large and small white/off white roses, mixed with different greenery)

First pick your tobacco basket for the base of your farmhouse tobacco basket wreath
I loved the rustic gray look of this large rectangle tobacco basket so it was definitely the one for my Farmhouse Tobacco Basket Wreath.
Picking the perfect tobacco basket really depends on your color scheme for your home though. What color works best with your space?
They have whites, all shades of browns, grays and even blues.
You could even paint in to match your home if you preferred a different color.
Also consider where you would like your Farmhouse Tobacco Basket Wreath to go when considering shape as well. There are a variety of sizes and shapes so be sure to pick the perfect one for your space.
Then attach your floral foam to your tobacco basket wreath
Carefully attach the floral foam to the mid to lower portion of the tobacco basket with green floral wire.
Note: The wire will easily cut the floral foam, so be careful to secure the foam, but not so tightly that it is cutting the foam. I added additional foam above as well(see next pic down) so that I could have a full floral area in the tobacco basket wreath.
Then attach your monogram letter or letters to your tobacco basket wreath
Attach monogram letter/letters or small sign to upper mid portion of basket. I attached them with silver floral wire.
I picked M & K of course M for Michael, K for Karen a.k.a. KK. You can pick anything you would like to place in this area though.
See the additional floral foam also attached here. Note that I did cut the foam to make it fit appropriately in the space.
Next fill floral foam with faux flowers and greenery of choice on tobacco basket wreath
Add faux greenery and faux flowers of choice.
Simply cut the faux flowers and faux greenery into smaller sections. Then in to the appropriate size/length(leave stems long enough to slide into foam and still be desired length).
I used wire cutters to trim as needed. The faux greenery and faux flowers have wires inside of them so regular scissors are hard to use for this trimming.
Then slide the wire end of the faux flower or faux greenery into the floral foam. You can add a dab of hot glue to the end of the stem before sliding it in to secure it more if needed.
**Be careful as the hot glue can melt the floral foam.
Add ribbon of choice to your tobacco basket wreath
Oh how I love all the ribbons! I could easily become a hoarder of all ribbons. I think every time I go to the craft store at least a roll or two ends up in my cart. I just can’t help it.
This was definitely the hardest choice for me(hints how I used two ribbons(polka dots and gold shimmer). It can be so hard to pick from all your favorite ribbons let alone a whole ribbon isle.
Remember to consider where you want to place your Farmhouse Tobacco Basket Wreath. This will help you select the perfect ribbon for your space and Farmhouse Wreath. I chose our master bedroom as It went well with my M&K monogram.
Select ribbon of choice to add to your Farmhouse Tobacco Basket Wreath.
Cut ribbon in strips of about 8 inches with a slanted end as in photo.
Bunch ribbon to make a cute half of a bow. (one bow loop) Take floral wire and twist around. Leave a piece of wire to slide into floral foam(same as floral stems were slide into floral foam). See pictures above.
Fill and Fluff ribbon and floral arrangement
Add fill and fluff your arrangement til it looks the way that you desire.
Mine is super full and I love it.
Hang it in your home
To attach it to the wall I added a piece of floral wire through the tobacco basket where it was hidden by the greenery/ flowers and created a hanging loop on the back side with the floral wire.
That’s how to make a diy farmhouse tobacco basket wreath.
I love this DIY Farmhouse Tobacco Basket Wreath. It adds so much character and a custom feel to our farmhouse home. The monogram M&K is such a fun touch and this wreath is so easy to make.
I know you are going to love making yours.
