First create your card
Take a piece of card stock in your color of choice and fold it in half. Turn it and fold in half again to create a traditional card.
Next cut out Hearts
Cut out about 6-8 hearts from cardstock as close in size as possible.
Make sure they are your colors of choice that match or compliment your card base. Also make sure that your hearts are folded in half.
Note: Use your first heart as a stencil for your other hearts so they are all the same size.
Glue your folded hearts together
Now take your folded hearts and glue them together to create a 3-d pop up heart. Glue the back of a folded heart lined up with the back of another folded heart. See pictures below.
Glue 3-D heart to card
Hot glue the back of your layered 3-D Heart and press onto card base on position of choice. Hold for a few seconds for heart to stay properly in place.
Add details to DIY Heart Pop Up Card
Now your DIY Heart Pop Up Card is ready to decorate.
Add sticker or use colored pens/makers to further customize your DIY Heart Pop Up card.
You could also use stencils or add glitter.
I chose a combo of sharpie metalic pens and some stickers that I already had.
My favorite pens are actually the paper mate colored markers. There’s a link to them above. They are super fine point, rarely bleed through the paper and hardly even smear. I love them for paper crafts.
I added You & Me. I thought it went super cute with the heart theme.
You can add whatever you like though to customize your DIY Heart Pop Up card.
Don’t forget to customize the inside of your DIY Heart Pop Up card to match the front as well.
I added some additional stickers and left room to write in a hand written note later on.
